Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. Without volunteers, our events and fundraisers would not be possible. Volunteering is a fun, easy way to support the creation of a permanent dog park in New Braunfels.

Opportunities
  • Dog park greeter
  • Special events
  • Publicity
Responsibilities
  • Temporary Dog park days greeter: set up/break down event, welcome new and seasoned dog park visitors, distribute waste disposal bags, and enforce rules (if necessary). Without dog park greeters, our temporary dog park events would not be possible. Responsibilities include:
    • Volunteer will obtain key to storage room. Remove/set up supplies housed in the storage room. Supplies include kiddie pool, dog toys, table, hose, and possible merchandise. Return aforementioned materials to the storage room at end of event. The key and donation jar are returned to their spots.
    • Act as a greeter for all people and animals entering the dog park. Distribute waste disposal bags to everyone who enters and upon request. Explain dog park rules to first-time visitors.
    • Volunteers are certainly allowed to bring their own dog with them for their shift.
  • Special events: special events may include the "Doggie Carnival," "Doggie Dash" or other event. Responsibilities vary, but may include:
    • Oversee carnival booth, such as "Guess my dog's weight" or "Doggie limbo."
    • Direct race participants in the correct direction or distribute water to necessary locations.
    • Help prepare for event by creating signs, stuffing race bags, and purchasing supplies.
  • Publicity: our organization needs promotion! Special events, as well as regular events, need to be publicized to the surrounding community.
    • Artistically inclined? Create fliers for our events.
    • Distribute fliers to local businesses for display on your own schedule - this is one of the easiest ways to help our organization
